“While we’ve not worked with Samina for very long, her support has been invaluable in helping us identify how to reach and connect with new, diverse communities. She has great networks, understands the arts & culture sector and is a pleasure to work with – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.- Audience Development  Manager”

The Lowry Theatre

“Samina’s contribution to the MHCLG Community Champions project has been exceptional.

Her attentional to detail and ability to create clear, concise materials is a testament both to her determination and her communication skills. Samina produced a huge range of communication materials for the project in an extremely short space of time, never leaving a stone unturned or even the smallest support request unmet. Her communications covered over a dozen languages cleverly drawing on local language and cultural differences to increase engagement. She exceeded the metrics and targets set by the government, often by three or four times the expected level of engagement.

Samina sat comfortably within a geographically and culturally diverse team and quickly became a trusted member. Our Near Neighbours team is sorry the project has concluded and look forward to welcoming her enthusiastic involvement in our futures.”

Chris Biglands, Director of Operations, Near Neighbours/CUF

“Samina was a critical and brilliant member of my British Muslim Heritage Centre team. She was instrumental in helping us gain our communications licence, and with her expertise, helped us set up a professional and much needed community radio station, that is still thriving years after its inception.
Professional, hard-working, well networked, and an expert in her field, Samina is a great asset to have on board. I look forward to working with her in the near future.”

Samina has provided us with valuable advice which has helped to inform our future planning around timing of events and our visitor experience offer enabling us to be as accessible as possible to a wide range of audiences.”

Claire Will Director of Marketing and Communications , Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

I worked with Samina on The Grand Trunk Project which commemorated 70 years since the Partition of the Indian Subcontinent. Samina was the project lead in Manchester where she organised a community event with over 200 people from start to finish, reflecting her leadership and management skills. She brought her years of expertise in working with communities to the table, she was a pleasure to work with as she had thought out every detail and really put herself in the shoes of the target audience which made the event a great success.

I met Samina at a few charity events over the years and was amazed by her hosting skills. She was very approachable and her hosting skills was second to none. One thing I noticed about Samina was the time and effort she took to understand the background of the charities and really connected with the audience and had so much passion for the cause and what results she wanted to gain from the audience.

I held a charity event two years ago and instantly knew I only wanted Samina to be the host for my event. She was so passionate about the cause I was raising money for that she put so much effort, time and planning input into my charity event.

Having never carried out a charity event before I was indebted to Samina for the support and advice she gave during the lead up to the event. On the night of the event she not only hosted but helped to make sure that all aspects of the event was carried out well. Her hosting on the night was phenomenal. There was so many elements of the event that needed to be tied in to the charity element  of the evening yet Samina held the audiences attention with care, humour, empathy and knowledge throughout. She was impeccable with the schedule and kept the audiences attention throughout the evening. Our aim was to raise £10k but with Samina’s leadership on the evening and her engagement with the audience she helped us raise just over £40k – an unbelievable amount!

I couldn’t recommend Samina enough. She really is an integral part of any project, event and show she gets involved in. Samina puts her 100% into the cause. She is a joy to be around and I put my trust fully in knowing Samina would do her upmost to make the evening a success.

Samina has successfully worked with the BMHC over the last few years. In her capacity as Radio Manager, Samina was instrumental in securing a Ramadhan radio licence and the success of this helped to further secure the existing Heritage Radio licence. Using her fabulous networking expertise, Samina was able to pool together a team of around 70 volunteers for Radio Ramadhan. Samina has always demonstrated her integrity and personable skills whilst working at the BMHC and she used her passion and dedication to professionally train volunteers and put together schedules to ensure a variety of high-quality programmes were broadcast; reflecting the diversity of our listeners.

Samina has also worked as a freelance coordinator and undertook the mammoth task of organising a 2 day annual Eid Festival. Samina ensured that the event was revenue-generating as well as a wonderful fun packed opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate. Samina pays close attention to detail and always works within a timely manner and to deadlines. She used her charisma to build upon existing partnerships as well as develop new initiatives. The event was attended by more than 5000 people.

When the BMHC has been represented in the media, Samina has been called upon for her professional skills as mentor and media advisor for contributors. She has provided her invaluable expertise in the area of presentation skills, including positive visualisation and transmitting information with clarity and affirmation.

Radio Manager / Coordinator, VICE CHAIR - BMHC

“BFI brought Samina in as an expert in audience development and engagement to speak to organisations within the film exhibition sector that were at the early stages of developing partnerships. Samina was a fantastic source of knowledge for the partnerships and shared her personal and professional experiences working with underrepresented audiences. Ranging from specific advice on engagement and marketing, to broader concepts of trust and relationship building; Samina’s extensive work history and lived experience was an invaluable resource across the two Lab days.”

British Film Institute, Adam

“Samina’s input has been invaluable to the Coliseum as we try to reach new and culturally diverse audiences. She has great networks and an understanding of theatre and culture, and what arts organisations need to do to be welcoming for a range of communities. Her insight and feedback has been very helpful and we have had great success working with her.”

Head of Marketing, Oldham Coliseum Theatre

“Samina worked with The Met as a freelance project manager and facilitator for a Youth Music Incubator project called Blueprint. This was a brand-new piece of work for us, developing and supporting a group of 5 young professionals to work in the music industry. Samina created a thorough and in depth programme of training for the young people, facilitated their creative and professional development and provided pastoral support above and beyond throughout the project. The success of the project would not have been anything approaching what we achieved without her and we wouldn’t hesitate in working with her again.”

Head of Learning , The Met

“The Lowry worked with Samina to engage South Asian audiences with the Opera North presentation of Orpheus. Samina was a joy to work with and her contacts list was extensive. She helped us to genuinely engage with Greater Manchester’s South Asian community and as an added bonus attract a huge audience from the community to the performance. The show virtually sold our 1700 seater auditorium and the audience was visibly much more diverse than the usual audience for The Lowry and for opera. Many of the visitors had never visited The Lowry before let alone attended opera before and the project was deemed a great success by all involved with fantastic feedback from all the community members who came. The Lowry would highly recommend working with Samina and intend to continue our partnership in the future.”

Tim Manley , The Lowry

Opera North worked closely with Samina to grow a new audience for our work at The Lowry. Samina’s knowledge, connections, passion and spirit have had a significant impact and we look forward to collaborating with her again in the near future.

Emily Simpson , Opera North
